Homework Staff Governors Friends of the School Pastoral Care Values

The school is divided into two classes, the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. Whilst the children are taught, for the most part, in their class groups, individual pupils or groups of pupils may be taken out of class from time to time. This would apply mainly to children with special educational needs.

The classes are organized as follows:-

The Foundation Phase, consisting of  the nursery, reception and years 1 and KS2, consisting of years 3, 4, 5 and 6 .


Foundation Phase


The Foundation Phase is the statutory curriculum for all 3 to 7 years old children in Wales in both maintained and non-maintained settings.


The Foundation Phase encourages children to be creative, imaginative and to have fun, making learning more enjoyable and more effective. The curriculum encourages children to learn through play.


This curriculum includes 6 areas of learning:


• Personal and Social Development, Well-Being and Cultural Diversity

• Language, Literacy and Communication Skills

• Mathematical Development

• Knowledge and Understanding of the World

• Physical Development

• Creative Development


Key Stage 2

Key stage 2 is a statutory curriculum is set by the Welsh Government for all children aged between 7 to 11.

The subjects at Key Stage 2 are:

• English
• Mathematics
• Science
• Welsh
• History
• Geography
• Physical education
• Art and design
• Design and technology
• Music
• Information and communication technology
• Religious education

The aim of the school is to try and ensure that the education provided enhances the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of each pupil and that the nature of the complete curriculum is varied, expansive and balanced. In order to fulfil these needs the class organisation will be flexible; work will sometimes be given according to the child's age, at other times children of different age groups spanning more than one school year, will work together on one task. Generally the children will be taught as a class unit in the care of a designated teacher.
